We are gathered here today ...

So you've found my funerals page - congratulations. From having a 'weddings' page I thought I'd have a page and a count about something a little more macabre - the number of funerals that I've been do. And it means that you saw my not-easy-to-spot link from the weddings page.

It seemed the next logical step, but because it's a delicate thing to some people I thought I'd hide the page away here probably where no one will ever find it.

So, if you're really that fussed to know, here are all the funerals that I can remember/know I've been to.

1980's

1 My mothers mum died I think in about 1985, when I was 13. I don't really remember much of the funeral, or .. cremation (?) at all actually to be honest. 2 My mums dad then followed a couple of years later

3 My dads dad died from bad bronchitis when I was about 14 or 15 .. what's that, er.. 1987 I think.

1990's

4 My dads mother though made the ripe old age of 76, but passed away in April of 1991. I remember going to DFS - still all dressed up in my suited funeral garb - and buying a sofa bed on the way home.

5 When I was at work in a company in Godalming in 1989, the old guy there - Wally - who was the accountant died, and so I had a weird 'company' funeral to attend.

6, 7, 8 I had the funerals to go to of my (then) girlfriends dad, and two of her grandparents between 1996 and 2001.

2005

March - 9 A different girlfriends (then) grandmother died whilst we were on holiday and due to visit her in South Africa.

So I'm on nine .. and the depressing thing is of course is that this number will steadily increase over the years, and easily catch-up and overtake the 'weddings' total. A cheery thought.

2007

February - 10 Another grandmother. Virginia Tate Webber: November 8, 1914 - February 2, 2007.

2008

July 12th - 10 Ramey Reeves. A woman I had met through whilst working at the Post & Courier died of a cancerous brain tumour in July. A blog about her is here. The video that I made about her is below.
