Saw a garage today, that had slashed the price of Rover cars on its forecourt by half. You could get a car that last week would have cost you 18,000 for 9,000. Not that suprising really is it? That’s 5,000 votes taken care of then.

So I headed out to extremities of the tube today, to Theydon Bois, and whilst on my travels, I got picked on again a total of four times. I think I really have got one of those ‘harmless and friendly looking faces’. Can anyone give me tips on how to look like a moody git so that I don’t get asked things by complete strangers?

Today, I got: “‘Scuse me love, is this the right way for Victoria?”, followed later by “Can you be telling me please kindly sir the Baker Street way”, by this weird guy who had a bleeding cut on his forehead, then later “Have I just missed one luv?” (referring to the train that pulled out 30 seconds ago) from an obese woman that had huffed and puffed her way down to the platform, to be wrapped up by “Is this the eastbound District line?” (at Upminster) “Er… no, it ends here you can only go west on the District line from here”, “Oh well, I suppose I’d better do that instead then” – all in the space of about an hour.

Oh and I got picked on by the Big Issue seller who started to tell me his life story as well, until I dummied by getting off the train “It’s my stop!” and then just moving down one carriage instead. So that was my day!

NTL have decided to upgrade my broadband speed again … let’s see if it takes them 7 months like it did last year shall we? (Remember that’s ‘soon’ in their vocabulary). I got a letter in the post today – “Great news! Your broadband speed is doubling”, which is quite cool – I’ll get a 3 megabit service (370 Kb/s) instead of 1.5 (185Kb/s) which I’ve got at the moment. Or, to put it another way, a 4 minute rock/pop song on iTunes will now download in about 12 seconds rather then 24. I can handle that!

My upload speed will only increase from 250 kb/s to 300 km/s which isn’t much, but it’s better than nothing I suppose. Anyway, they say it’s going to happen automatically “By the end of May”. So they’ve got 6 weeks! Let’s see if they manage to do it on time or not.

Who else has got NTL broadband out there – or Telewest? And what speeds are you currently getting?
