Geofftech – iBlog

Link to me baby

Ok, hands up who else likes the Daniel Powter song ‘Bad Day‘ then? It’s rising up my iTunes rankings at a rapid pace, closely followed behind by the rather nifty new Gorillaz release ‘Dare‘. All good stuff.

Right, linkety-link-heaven for you today as I do one of those catch-ups on all the things which people see fit to send in my direction saying “Blog this!”.

iPod my babyStarting with how to turn your baby into an iPod (!) at ipodmybaby.com – which is a fantastic Christmas gift for my sister this year who is currently expecting her third … that’s right, you can now buy babygrows with the iPod ‘click wheel’ design on the front of them – in both pink and blue colours of course.

Contributor Lynn (#321) sends me a rare email to point out the virtues of freecycle.org today which is a bit like swap-shop (remember that Noel Edmonds fans?) for household goods that are in good nick, but you don’t longer need. Or perhaps you’re after something yourself. A kind of free eBay. Oh – go and have a look and all will be become rapidly clear.

Name my tuneBut nothing comes close to the excitement or fun of discovering namemytune.com today – an online hummable version of Shazam.

If you’ve got a tune in your head and you don’t know what it’s called – then go to this website, you ‘hum’ the noise into your microphone, upload it – and let someone else online hear it and try and work out what it is. How brilliant is that!?

Guaranteed hours of fun … until the novelty wears off that is. Ah well.

Not Afraid LogoIt’s also worth pointing out too that I moved all charity-tube-related malarkey to it’s own separate site and domain at www.tuberelief.co.uk yesterday, along with a nice new logo/graphic.

There’s still time to sign up (email notafraid@tuberelief.co.uk if you want), or of course sponsor me and Neil. Even if it’s only a couple of quid! Go on. Please. Thanks.

Was also musing the idea today with an old friend the idea of starting up a Geofftech Podcast. ‘Blogcast’ we decided we could call it, and would a completely off-the-wall quirky style broadcast of around 15 or 20 minutes, of random subjects of our choosing.

Well we say random, but we then proceeded to come up with three excellently pointless ideas for programmes that we could do … but was just wondering if your – the faithful blog reader – would extend your kindness to podcast downloading and listening too?

I guess I won’t know how popular it is until I actually do it. Hmm. Watch this space!

the daniel powter song is great but its been around forever now. You know when you listen to a song so much u can hear every ickle bit of it in your head….

Also…you know when you first hear about something (for me: freecycle) and then you read stuff about it day after day… its wierd…

    Guiness is lovely!

I believe I first gave you that Blogcast idea Geoff …

Just thought that I’d add a comment as there weren’t too many today!

  5. Mikey says:

I don’t bother listening to podcasts, but i still think you should do it, as i’m sure others will like it

It’s been a bit of a “low comment” day today hasn’t it? Sometimes, comments inspire other comments. Or maybe i’m just having a lean spell. no worries .. keep plodding away. It was a fairly lame blog effort, even by my standards!

  7. Richard says:

Geoff – I was slightly surprised you dodn’t mention yesterday’s test match. Do you have any interest in the game?

  8. So few comments probably means you are suffering from “blog depression.”

[Also.. Doesn't your end-of-year "Top of the UK" charts deal qualify as a podcast?] See, you were doing it before there was a hip name for it.

I’m surprised that nothing about Tottenham’s fantastic pre-season form has been mentioned, nor our top signing. It’s all led to a wave of optimism about the new season. I’ve yet to see a journo not predict 5th or better for us, which worries me to my very core. All hardcore spurs fans know the feeling of disappointment each season, what does elation feel like do you think?

  10. Neil says:

Port Vale were predicted finishing 24th in League One by a couple of papers to which I can only say “balls”.

I mean come on, 21st at LEAST :-)

Tottenham are one of those mid-table sides for whom the hacks always predict high-ish finishes. I’ll say 7th. Definitely not more than 60 points. I can’t see why this season will be any different to the last few.

We’ll be lucky to get 25 the way we’ve been predicted to go down.

  11. Re commenting – I’ve given up trying to understand what makes people comment or not – there’s no rhyme or reason to it, so I don’t worry about it anymore. It’s certainly nothing to do with the quality or otherwise of the blog – Diamond Geezer did this excellent experiment where he made two posts over two days. One was his usual excellent standard with lots of pictures, links, references to other sites and really informative. The other simply said “Doughnuts are they better with or without holes?” No prizes for guessing which got the most comments by miles.

Re – podcasts – I’m ambivalent – depends what the cast was on – I wouldn’t be able to listen to it at work though – headphones.

    ah ..

i can see that i need to do some football (tottenham) and cricket coverage then. but i’ll save that for tomorrow, as the cricket one is slightly controversial .. well it’ll annoy someone specific that i have in mind anyway.
