I wouldn’t normally do this kind of thing …

Happy Christmas… but it is christmas day, one on which I’m having to work, and I’m in the mood to do a sort of ‘hourly update’ thing. And thus …

I’m awake, which is annoying. Half an hour before I’d set my alarm to go off.

Also annoying is the fact that I still feel tired so why has my body woken me up? If it’s complaining that I feel tired and need more sleep then why didn’t it stay asleep when it had the chance?

Then I remember that it’s christmas day, and I look outside the window. Nothing special – just another grey winter day. Hmmm. Might as well get up I suppose then.

The Box is playing East 17. VH1 is playing Kirsty & The Pogues, The Hits is playing Have a cheeky christmas. God help us. The TV goes off. The kettle goes on. And I’m heading for the shower.

I have no presents to open, but before you all go ‘Aaaah’, I do make and take a couple of phonecalls though which perks me up, but I don’t yet feel completely in the festive mood yet.

Four Poofs CD[11.00]

Ok, now I’ve perked up. I’ve done one pressie run to a friend round the corner, and now have called in at my other friends Sarah & Adrian around the corner for coffee, cranberry muffins, and to help peel their vegetables! And all done to the soundtrack of Four Poofs & A Piano Christmas Medley – I kid you not. It does put me in a Christmas mood though!

Heading for work. In my car. A few days ago, Badly Dubbed Boy asked me if I’d take some pictures of London on my way into work on Christmas day. I’m not sure why – but it’s just another drab, grey winters day with admittedly less cars on the road. There are a few people walking about families having a pre-christmas lunch walk, people walking their dogs, someone wearing a santa hat. It feels vaguely christmassy, but really it’s just another drive into work.

Christmas Day London

At work – where someone has made muffins! And I’ve got another present waiting for me. This isn’t so bad, and I have to confess that there’s nothing broke at work either – so it should be a quiet day. Even the sun has come out over London, and it’s almost a bit spring like, rather than wintery.

Typical – something has broken at work! Which is going to take more than 5 minutes to fix. It’s the system that I have a love/hate relationship with the most, and now I’m going to be busy for a while … !

Snack Food[17.00]

Everything fixed and working. Having a cup of tea and cakes to celebrate. There is actually an extraordinary amount of nibbly food that people have brought on just lying around, but I just to laugh when Chris from down the corridor complained that “He needed more substantial snack food, like quiche or cold pizza…”

Oh, and not long to go now until Doctor Who is on. Yay!

Shayne at Number OneBollocks.

He got to number one. Nizlopi at number two, and the re-released “Fairytale of New York” (best Xmas song – ever – remember!) made it to number 3! Cool.

Anyway – “Congratulations” then to a TV manufacturered pop star who won’t be around this time time year.

Plasma Screen TV[20.00]

Oh. My. God.

It was fan-tas-tic!

Highlight of the day – I officially took my break 🙂 and watched the special christmas edition episode of Doctor Who on the largest flat screen telly that I could find in the building, and it was totally awesome.

The new series starts (rumoured) on March 25th, 2006.

Still at work. There are tiny flies buzzing around the office. I can only assume it’s because of the amount of nibbly food that people are eating and discarding – and it’s just occured to me that the cleaners probably won’t come back in until Wednesday of this week – meaning that there will be five days worth of scraps of food building up nicely in the bins. Mmm. Nice – not!

Can I go home now please?

  10. How much does the “Office Nigella” look like the “TV Nigella?” Gingerbread sounds delish!!

    Merry Christmas to all!

  11. Marco says:

Agree with you about Fairytale of New York. Just saw the Pogues perform it at Brixton Academy on Thursday. In a word….great.

  12. Chris says:

Was I the only one slightly disappointed by Doctor Who last night?

I’ll admit the new series looks good, but the christmas special felt quite unnecessarily padded out..

  13. Chris says:

As my skyplus box failed at recording doctor who – does anyone have a copy?

  14. geofftech says:

Disappointed by Doctor Who? Heathen! Yes you are along in thinking that!

“You just can’t get the staff”, “Ooh.. i just have to press this big button”. Predciting it right before he said “Fantastic!”. Great charisma. Bah humbug to you Chris!

It’s being repeated on BBC3 on new years day.

  15. The office Nigella says:

Kris (#10) – I have the amply padded hips, but that’s about it (no comments, Marshall!).

  16. Chris says:

Yeah- all from the last fifteen minutes of the show.

You can’t deny it was a bit too long, and slightly uneventful..

Bah. Bring on the new series. That should pick up the pace!

  17. #15.. Office Nigella: Well, the real Nigella is quite a hard act to follow! Is it not enough to be a talented cook, and have a colorful TV personality? She also has to be drop dead gorgeous too?

  18. Teg says:

Merry Christmas. Shame you had to work Christmas Day but at least you got to watch Doctor Who. Fantastic. Please can March 25th come around quickly.
