It’s because we (Leigh was filming) were standing under the canopy of the gas station that is on the corner. And a stream of water was actually coming down where it had collected above and hitting the umbrella.

What you also don’t see (and what was more scary than any potential hurriance) was that 20 seconds after this take (we did two takes, you got the better of the two), some BIIIG black dude, with a nail through his nose, and arm muslces as large as my thighs, comes up and starts mumbling something (he’s high) that i can’t make anysense of. Although I got the words “robbed” “unrespected” and “honour”. I’m looking at Leigh thinking “Shit, we’re about to die!”, she’s looking at me like “Fuck! Shall we run?”, but I let him do his speech, nod politely, look sympathetic, and after 30 seconds he wanders off, wading through the water.

that would have made a much better video wouldn’t it? dammit.

I think it would have been interesting for it to be slightly more windy, and slightly more rainy – but not devastatingly so. Anyway, like I say – here I am all smug, but we’ll probably get wiped out in two weeks time but a proper one. We’ll see…!
