It’s showtime …
[17:00]
Ok, so … iTunes 7.0 downloaded.
First things first – do I get a movie? No … because it’s USA store only (and i’m still signed up to the UK one).
Instead I go straight for the games, and something I used to play to death in my teenage years.
Yup .. Pac Man on my iPod! Marvellous!
[14:30]- Bah, there is NO 6th generation iPod after all … just updated 5th Gen ones. There are some funky new iPod Nanos though, and indeed the new version of iTunes which lets you download movies and other stuff. I’m just downloading it from the apple website now.
Apple are due to make some new product announments today. Tipped to be on the list of things are …
• Discussion on iTunes software, iTMS integration into iTunes, and iTMS sales and facts.
• iTunes version 7.0, with better search feature for store
• Announces Movie Store. Available Immediately will be movies from Disney and Pixar, among other studios.
• New iPod Nano Announcement (nice brushed casing, while it will have same features as first gen, only a longer battery life)
• New iPod Announcement (Widescreen, Bluetooth, and featuring virtual touchweel. Does not include Wi-Fi, or any other protocols)
Jobs will then explain the pricing structure of the Movie Store. Movies will be available as either a smaller iPod-format (which will cost $9.99 per movie), or as a larger, streamed movie to be streamed to your TV. This cost $14.99 per movie.
To purchase an iPod-formatted movie and a streamed version of the same movie, will cost you $19.99.
In the meantime, the iTunes Music Store is currently DOWN! and is saying this instead:
The annoucement is at 6pm today, GMT. (10am, Pacific time – west coast USA)
Follow the announcements as they happen live on MacRumors.

After living in London for the first 33 years of my life and working for the
So for ten weeks in June, July and August 2009, I drove 20,000 miles around the the lower 48 contiguous states of the USA visiting towns and places that shared the same name as places on The London
ooh how exciting, and well timed in light of recent stories that iPod sales are below expectations at the moment.
Really? It’s not on the register yet…
Glad I waited on buying my new iPod. Knowing you, you’ll have to have the newest one immediately.
Hey Geoff..how many iPods have you bought yourself after the world helped you buy your first?? (insert link here)
And how many people posting comments here actually MET Geoff through the iPod quest?
I’ll start. I did– I was contributor #202.
BBC News story on it here. Bear in mind, Steve Job is still talking and announcing (as i type this) – so it’ll get updated over the next hour or so .. !
You’re right – no sign of it on the register yet, but they will…
Oh, and i don’t have the money to buy a new one immediately Kris! So it’ll just have to be on my christmas list instead…
5. Or… add it to your wedding gift registry. Instead of that silver creamer or Lenox place setting.
I’m not sure that would be a popular idea with the future Mrs. Marshall – but i’ll mention it …
Contributor #23 – I’ve met Geoff! (and I’ve got an iPod nano)
I too loved Pac Man. Wonder if I can find it online?
just google “pacman online” and hundreds come up! however, finding out that is the original Namco clone with Inky, Pinky & Clyde .. the original ghosts that have the patterns of the original arcade machine is hard to find … I used ti have a book with all the patterns for all the levels, and used to quite easily get up to 9th key… God I’m sad.
I met Geoff through the iPod quest and I was contributor #466. The meet actually happened during Tube Relief 2005. I am an iPod owner, which I currently resurrected from the dead with a replacement hard drive (the old one conked out 2 weeks after my warranty ran out!).
Geoff – your comment #7. It seems that random gifts are a feature of wedding lists at the moment. One friend had a £1,500 fridge/freezer unit on theirs (everything else was less than £200) but the most cheeky list goes to my wife’s friend who’s getting married in October – her list contains two cars, both worth over £150,000! (I think we’ll settle for the £50 gravy boat!)
So I think adding a £250 iPod is worth a shot. You never know!
Well John Lewis sell iPods, right? We’re going to register with JL at somepoint. Might have to slip an iPod onto there just for a laugh at the very least to see if anyone notices … !
Heard of it from another blog. and i was digging more of iTunes 7.0 when i came across your blog. i haven’t tried the new version yet, but i’m so dying to try it right now!
