’tis the season to be festive

HollyAre you crackers? So it’s still the festive season. And that’s CHRISTMAS, and not a generic holiday reference either.

The good news is that we found some Christmas Crackers. Target had them (some nasty cheapy ones), so instead we bought two boxes of higher quality ones at 50% off in World Market.

Now I just have to convince the people that I’m spending Christmas day with that they want to wear silly paper hats on their head, and to let me take pictures of them.

Thanks, MarkA big ‘shout out’ and ‘thanks’ to my mate Mark from home who quite unexpectedly sent me the most fantastic gift in the mail. It’s a Christmas Pudding!

And look, it’s not just any old Christmas Pud, but it’s one made by Fox’s Biscuits, over whom I obsess, so this is quite quite fantastic.

Thanks mate! It got a bit battered in the mail though as you can see, but still perfectly edible I’m sure.

Big ClausTravelling to and from the shopping centre mall at the weekend, we drove down nearby Highway 17, where I’m always amused by a giant inflatable ‘Granny’ – which sits on the roof blowing in the wind of a car dealers shop. “Grandmother Brown Automobiles” or something … but more amusing that this now is the 6 metre high giant inflatable santa that is now next to that, and couldn’t resist taking a photo.

Being Christmas, several people round our way have done the thing that is no different to back home – decorate their houses with Christmas lights. A few years back, I ran a specific ‘Bling! Bling! Merrily on high’ page with a ‘Top 10’ of efforts from around my local neighbourhood.

I was thinking about doing the same thing here, but the trouble was is that we found the ‘winner’ pretty much straight away, just a five minute walk away from our house. And most impressive it is too :-

DiegoAnd finally – one of the golden rules of canine ownership. “Thou shalt dress up your tiny dog and make them look silly at all times, whenever possible”.

HollySo when I realised that I had a few spare SBUX cups left over from making the decorations last week, it seemed only right and fair that the resident chihuahua in my house should be the recipient of ‘battle plate armour’ style SBUX decor. It’s a caffeine-powered-dog! … WOOOF!

Are you feeling Christmassy yet?

You’re really starting to sound… American. It’s that subscription I got you to Lard & Gun Weekly, isn’t it?

  5. Geofftech says:

How the friggin’ heck am I sounding all American-like? U sayin’ I’ve gotten to grips with the local lingo? That sucks, dude. I’m like – totally freaked now, y’all hear?

And you shouldn’t joke Dan. My neighbour [UK sp.] just started a new job for a magazine called ‘Gun & Garden’ – I kid you not.

Plus – i’ve got a quick trip back to the motherland planned over the xmas/new year period. A few rounds of tea, scones and listening to BBC news every night will see me right, so I’m not panicking.
