One fesitval to another

So Halloween has passed. And remember kids – Americans take it seriously!

How seriously? Enough to warrant four families of kids come knocking on our front door last night come-a-candy-beggin’ (ok, i did carve up a pumpkin stick a candle inside and put it on the porch to advertise that we were a candy-friendly household), but never in England did I ever have to answer the door more than twice in one night.

Then it was off downtown late night to see the crazy college kids in all their costumes – hired, beg, borrowed and (quite impressively) often handmade.

But it’s November now. The first. Which means Christmas decorations are now in the shops … but more important … oh so much more important than that …

THE RED CUPS ARE BACK!

And after failing to have a dedicated website last year (most annoying), this year year they’re not failing to disappoint!

I saw a “The Red Cups are coming” sign in Starbucks yesterday and thought of you…

I spotted the deliberate mistake: “…website last year (most annoying), this year year theyโ€™re not failing…”

We only had one group of trick-or-treaters come to the door, which was a bit disappointing. I had a wander around the area to look at the decorations on other houses, which was kind of interesting. There was one up the road with flickering lights and eerie noises coming from it.

  5. Given that the red cups are available for 20% of the year, does that really make them special? Or are they just cups that are red?

    and on the 5th?

  7. Tina (G's Mum) says:

Are we to send some out to you? Or are you going to be drinking S/B’s everyday 6 times a day to get the cups?
They have finally opened one in Reigate would you believe, after a great deal of opposition, that’s quite near me.

Never had a single trick or treater since moving to London. Used to get alot in home town, but as we were near a USAF base, we had a high proportion of Americans living around us. A couple of times I got to go trick or treating on the base with american friends and it was always amazing!

And driving home tonight, I passed the starbucks opposite angel tube station and thought of you as someone was sitting outside drinking from a red cup ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi, halloween is big in Liphook …. kept coming round all evening. We’ve imported trick or treating.

    Kept Joseph and Kasia amused…

Wait a minute … is there some big boss behind starbucks just trying to hold the internet to ransom by slowing it down….
