I started my blog as a continuation of the daily write-up that I did when I got 500 people to give me 50p so that I could buy an iPod.
There's a lot of tube related stuff on this site due to me being a former World Record Holder for travelling around the entire network (275 stations) in the fastest time possible back in May 2004.
After living in London for the first 33 years of my life and working for the BBC News website I moved to Charleston, South Carolina in the USA in May 2006 for three and a half years before moving back to England and back to work for the BBC in November 2009.

So for ten weeks in June, July and August 2009, I drove 20,000 miles around the the lower 48 contiguous states of the USA visiting towns and places that shared the same name as places on The London Tube Map.

and?
The fact that you haven’t gone into a long rambling conversation with ‘Lucy’ could mean
that finally you are beginning to fit in, enjoy yourself, think of USA as ‘home’ and the
UK as the old country, your place of birth, to be visited whenever you want to. I know of people who left their P.O.B 40 years ago who still call the old place ‘home’. You have 2 homes in fact, so are a lucky person to have
experienced a bit of the world. Home is in your head wherever you are.
You should be proud of yourself for being a survivor.
That ramble took me quite a while to get through.
Rather amusing that your mum’s post was longer
Wait just a second there, Mom. Don’t us natives have some say in this?
Just to give you some sense of how well Geoff is “fitting in,” some months ago I was riding my bike in to the office and I hear some great bloody SUV crowding me from behind, and then this Brit shouting: “CYCLIST! GET OFF THE ROAD!”
My bet is he’ll be putting on weight, buying cheap handguns and whistling Dixie by the end of the calendar year.
No, that was it. Just a – “Ooh, another 6 months”.
Now get your fcuking bike out of my way DAn.
