11. Moving from Memphis

Go to Memphis, go to Graceland and all you do is get Elvis songs stuck in your head.

Although, weirdly in my case I found myself humming a very obscure A-Ha song Move to Memphis instead, and from that it took me to Mark Cohn’s Walking in Memphis, and from there the natural transition is to go to the remix by Shut and and Dance Raving I’m Raving, which is just … well - bizarre - if you’ve never heard it before and Mark Cohn purists look away now and don’t click on that link!

Still, it’s video time. Was still having to use the second camera, so the quality is not the best. But it’s fun. Graceland, long haired rock-stars, Geoff flirts with a 70 year old and we get caught in a rather severe thunderstorm …

So what kind of gadgets does one add to that camera? Budding videographers would like to know!

sure, well first a battery that lasts! the one provided gets you about 60 minutes of recording time. i bought two heavyweight chunky ones that give you over 120 minutes.

the lens has a cap on the front too, but you could also get a wide angled lens attachment which would really make it look good.

it’s got one shoe bracket on top to hang a device on, but onto mine i put a ‘Y’ bracket which lets you hang off TWO things. in mine case - a light and the radio mic receiver. oh yeah - you GOTTA have a radio mic

then there’s the tripod attachment clip that goes underneath. and because it’s a Sony and it has a pain in the arse (the ONLY bad thing abotu Sony camcorders) tape loader right by the tripod screw, you can get a spacer which means you DON’T have to take off the tripod attachment each time you want to load a new tape.

so by the time you’ve added all that.. it looks pretty fcuking professional.

oh - get a water/splash protection casing as well. i had one, but it was stolen…
