Things I would like to see on future iPods A 'Jump To' Feature A feature where you are playing tunes in a random mode, when a song comes up my an artist that you think "Ooh.. I would really like to hear some more songs by this artists", and instead of you having to manually browse to that artist, there can be a 'Jump to..' button to take you to just songs by the current artist that is playing. Define playcount moment To qualify for a 'playcount' you have to hear a song all the way to the end - i.e. if you listen to 95% of a song, and skip, or stop - then you don't get the 'count'. I would like a feature whereby you can say how much of a percentage of a way through a song you can be (provided you've played it all the way from the beginning) for that tracks 'playcount' tally to be incremented by one. Apple introduced the 'skipped playcount' feature which (I think) tells you the songs that you started to play and then skipped, which is cool - but still not enough. Edit playcount I would like to be able to edit the XML & iTunes database file to edit the play count column directly. Sometimes I have a song that I've bought in protected AAC format that I then get on CD and import. I want to delete the protected version and have the non-protected version, but I want to preserve my playcount. So I have to play the newly imported song on repeat for X times .. until it matches the protected version, which I can then delete. 'Carry on at home' feature You drive home or ride your bike home or commute home listening to your iPod. When you walk into your house you're halfyway through listening to a song or playlist that you're enjoying. There should be a feature that lets yuo have the option to 'Carry on' with your iPod, so that you walk in, sync your iPod and iTunes responds by picking up where your iPod is at in terms of the song it is playing. That would be very cool indeed ... Multiple Genres in iTunes At the moment, you can only assign a song to one type of genre. I'd find it useful to be able to put a song into more than one genre as a lot of my songs I feel span more than one category that I'd like to just not pigeonhole it into one. This would then allow me much more flexibility in smart playlists when I'd like to be able to select songs by genre as well - something I don't do at the moment as there is not enough flexibility in the genre field. (And whilst Apple are at it, they should also provide a way of deleting unuses Genres, or ones where you've made a spelling mistake and you want to get rif of it)
